I’m Alex Kempler (she/they), a Teaching Assistant Professor in Sociology and Criminology at the University of Arkansas. I am broadly interested in urban and community sociology, public policy, social movements, and housing and homelessness.

As a researcher, I am interested in understanding opportunities for housing equality within the context of entrenched housing commodification in the United States. I seek to understand different pathways towards securing housing rights for a variety of individuals, including the housing insecure and the unhoused. My research explores both policy-specific opportunities as well as social movement activity within the realm of housing rights.
