This is an intermediate, asynchronous course that I am currently teaching at OSU.
This course explores how social problems come to be, highlighting potential policy interventions. The first section of the course focuses on how social problems are defined, looking at individual, social, cultural, economic, and political causes. The second section dives into specific social problems, such as homelessness, racial inequality, and poverty. Finally, we discuss the role that policy plays in improving social problems, unpacking potential solutions to these issues.
